Summer is just around the corner, and it's been quite hot lately in Southeast Asia. What better way to beat the heat than with something chilled and delicious?
[What is your go to summer dish in your country?]
🇰🇷 Koreans have a dish called Naengguk, which translates literally to "Cold Soup." Its origins can be traced back to the Goryo Dynasty in the early 1200s. While it's a common delicacy in Korea, it's not as well-known outside of the country. Here is the recipe below!
Recipe
📌 soak seaweed in water and strain it after it expands
📌 chop up the onion, cucumber, and chili
📌 in a bowl, place the seaweed and put 2-3 tablespoon of vinegar 2-3table spoon of sugar, and minced garlic. Use gloves and rub it in as the sauces will reduce the storng sea taste of the seaweed
📌 then put 2 TB of soysauce
📌 then fill the bowl with cold water (you can add msg if you want a deeper flavor)
📌 add the cucumber and then the chili
📌 mix again and then add ice
📌 to make it into a meal, add somen noodles :)
There you have a delicious Korean summer delicacy at the palm of your hands. It has the perfect balance of sweet, sour, and savory with a pinch of spicy. This is a definite remedy for the heat :)
